How is my server connected to the internet? Is it fast?

It's extremely fast. We have 3 OC3 (155mbit) links, 1 DS3 (45mbit) and 1 MASSIVE Cogent Gigabit (yes, 1000mbit) link. Your data is routed through the fastest possible link for that particular connection. No matter where you hit your web site from you can guarantee it's gonna be one fast hit to be sure.

OK, the network is fast, what about the server?

We have a great server! Your site will be running on our Custom Unix servers with Linux RedHat OS, Apache web server, 512 Mb RAM, and AMD DURON 1 Ghz processor. They are new, and they are fast!

OK, good connection, good server, what about tech support?

We have an online support form that you can access 24 hours a day. As well, you can send us an email at support@webhostxpress.net. We give personal service, and are motivated to keep you running well, as we are interested in a long term relationship.

Bandwidth! Just how much do I get?

We don't advertise unlimited bandwidth, anyone who does is misleading you. We allow 5 gigs per month on our basic account (that's in the neighborhood of half a million or a million hits a month). We charge $2 per gigabyte overage, however we have yet to need to charge anyone a dime, frankly, 5 gigabytes is honestly a massive amount of traffic. If you're getting that many hits you are in the big leagues and should ask us about a dedicated server just for you.

Can I resell my space?

No. If you want an account where you can resell you space, send us an email with your requirements and we'll give you a price for a reseller account

Can I run a commercial web site?

Sure.

Alright this sounds interesting, how long does activation take?

Click the order link, fill out the form, authorize payment, and we will have your account set up within 12 hours.

Can I telnet to my account?

No. Telnet represents too great a security risk. You can have shell access however, as we will give you access to a shell server via SSH if you make a special request for it. We also have a file manager that you can use to do many of the things you need shell access for.

Do I get a unique IP address?

No, the internet is getting short on them and every web site just can't have one. The only reason you might need one is for SSL Certificates and the word is that soon Thawte and Verisign will let the world have IP-less certificates (thank god). So no, no personal IP.

But I need a unique IP, can I get one?

If you need to set up SSL Certificates, we can get you that IP. Contact us for information on the setup fee and additional monthly charge.

Can I host porn?

If your content is legal, and you own the rights to it, you can host it. Keep in mind however, that if your site contains adult oriented content, you are restricted to a monthly payment plan. You will also be required to pay for any bandwidth you use over your monthly limit. Sites with adult content often experience significant traffic.

Can I use spam?

No. And nothing illegal either (warez, mp3s).

Can I host a file archive?

Sure, but it better be files you can legally distribute. If you need more bandwidth than your plan currently allows, contact us to upgrade your account to accommodate your requirements.

If I sign up for a year, am I billed per month after the year is over?

No. However you sign up, you will be automatically rebilled at the same term (unless you cancel service or make other arrangements). If you sign up for a year, you will be billed for another year when the first year is up. If you sign up for six months, you will be billed for another six months when the time comes. Of course, you can cancel at any time, or make arrangements to change how often you are billed.

I've tried to send mail and it doesn't work? Checking email is fine.

For security reasons, we required authorization to send mail through your website. No problem though, just click the authorization option in the sending mail options of your email program. This stops others from using your email account to send spam.
